#COVID19 : Your team of SANDF soldiers heading to Wuhan are checking into their 9pm flight to their mission (to repatriate 122 South Africans from Wuhan.
A flight carrying members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to repatriate 122 South Africans in Wuhan left OR Tambo on Tuesday night.
The South African citizens requested evacuation from the locked-down region after the novel coronavirus, officially known as the SARS-CoV-2 virus, broke out in the Chinese city in December.
Since the outbreak, over 100,000 people have been infected across the world, and more than 3,000 have died.
Meanwhile, all of Italy has been placed under lockdown to avoid the further spread of the disease.
Seven South Africans, who were all part of a group of ten travelling in Italy, have tested positive for the virus locally, and have been placed under quarantine.
